A New Year & New Creative Spaces

It’s hard to believe that I have not written in this space since June.  That’s seven months with a lot of life happening in between.  Our oldest girl has since gradated and is currently overseas in England with an organization called YWAM.  I have to admit that I miss my girl on a daily basis but at the same time I am so excited for all that she is seeing and experiencing right now. The rest of the family is busy with various activities, school, work commitments and growing up.  In this season we’re learning that it’s fun and strange when the kids start getting their own jobs and driving themselves around.  It means a lot of letting go and yet a ton of teaching too.  It really is a strange dichotomy of emotion and excitement to see all the growing and changing that is happening. Talking about change, in my last post “Changing Seasons” I mentioned that I was getting ready to embark on a new enterprenual adventure.  It was so new at the time that I needed time to flesh it out before sharing more about it.  I…

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Changing Seasons

Seasons are a part of life.  Spring flows into summer, which eases into Fall, which in turn heads into Winter only to ease once again into Spring. Seasons illustrate for us the ebb and flow of life. In the same way, seasons happen in our personal lives.  Toddling children move quickly into the teen years and then ever so subtle slipping into young adulthood. Life is busy and life is full.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing, except when it becomes a bad thing.  All of a sudden we realize how tired we are and we find ourselves praying that our kids soccer season (that just started) would somehow be over already…

Guess What? You Don’t Have To Do It All!

Did you know that? Did you know that you DON’T have to do it all? I know, crazy thought right?  But it’s true.  In fact, I don’t believe we should try to do it all.  Not only is it not possible, it’s actually unhealthy for us too. Unfortunately, we live in a culture that says we can, and says we should do it all.  It champions those who give out 110% over and over again.  It celebrates the work-a-holic and the one who gives tirelessly without any thought for themselves. We have become a culture that idolizes busy. A culture that runs with no margin in our lives. A culture who says in order to be successful you have to run a crazy pace to stay ahead of the competition. And so we keep going and going and going…
