“I love this idea of simplified living! And your insights are crisp and practical. Thanks for taking the time to share them so well. I hope the transition is kind to you too, moving can be brutal on the soul.”

“I think that this is exactly what many women, including myself need to hear! On a daily basis we often don’t think to stop and put ourselves or our health first for anything. We just push forward with every task at hand from sun up to sun down and sometimes into the night. I know I can do it all the time. Too often it seems. Today I really needed to read those words. It helped bring some much needed perspective into my morning and happy goose bumps onto my arms! Have a great day Victoria!”

“I just read about margin in a book I reviewed! It’s necessary in life. I do have a tendency to “do it all”, but you know? Everything changed for the better when I reprioritized. First, I put God in my life, first thing after kids go to school and last thing before I sleep. Scripture & worship/prayer in the AM, prayer & scripture at night. If I can’t do something, those are NOT the things I drop out unless I’m too sick to read. Somehow it’s all working much better now, and I take almost all the rest of my margin with my family, loving it!”

“Working here on the clutter, and getting rid of stuff I’ve held on to for too long. Finding so much freedom in throwing things away or giving things away. Your post reminded me of the book I’m reading: “The Magic Art of Tidying”. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it.”

“Hi Victoria. My name is Melinda and I was a stuff manager. I managed to get off the treadmill several months ago. The reason was a move to 500 sq ft. from 1200!
I purged a ton, (well, it seemed like a literally ton!) of stuff. The good stuff went to my Mom to consign, lots went to trash, and still more to Salvation Army. And I don’t even miss ANY of it! Except my fabric. I still have twinges of regret over that occasionally. But I get over it. Thanks for the call out! I hope many more people jump on the bandwagon.”

“Exactly! For longer than I care to think about I talked with my husband about the need to simplify. Sigh. After a few years of him not budging I got busy on my stuff and now he brings things to me to put in the charity box as he decides what to let leave our home. Win, win.”

ooooooh, ouch. but it “hurts good.” such a powerful reminder that it is easy to blame others, as an excuse for not making our own difficult changes. thank you for sharing a “simple” and straightforward, sensitive and respectful answer!!

These are great ideas! My small group at church was trying to think of service projects we could do and I think a lot of these would be fun!
