Did you know that? Did you know that you DON’T have to do it all?
I know, crazy thought right? But it’s true. In fact, I don’t believe we should try to do it all. Not only is it not possible, it’s actually unhealthy for us too.
Unfortunately, we live in a culture that says we can, and says we should do it all. It champions those who give out 110% over and over again. It celebrates the work-a-holic and the one who gives tirelessly without any thought for themselves.
We have become a culture that idolizes busy. A culture that runs with no margin in our lives. A culture who says in order to be successful you have to run a crazy pace to stay ahead of the competition.
And so we keep going and going and going.
And it’s so easy because there is never a shortage of things to do and accomplish. I know that all too well. Like many of you, I wear many hats with many different responsibilities. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the things that I feel need to be done. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the work that sits on my desk and the projects waiting at my door.
But even I have to remember the importance of keeping a proper balance. The importance of allowing margin into my life. The importance of realizing I don’t have to do it all. Because when I try and do it all I only succeed in burning myself out and harming my own health.
There is power in the word – NO.
So this week I challenge you to really look at your life. Where are you feeling overwhelmed? What are those things that you think you have to do, but you can really delegate elsewhere. More importantly, what are the things you can say NO too?
Take some time this week to create margin in your life. Find time to rest. Find time to have fun. Find time to Focus On What Really Matters Most To You!
Keeping It Simple,
