It’s hard to believe that I have not written in this space since June. That’s seven months with a lot of life happening in between. Our oldest girl has since gradated and is currently overseas in England with an organization called YWAM. I have to admit that I miss my girl on a daily basis but at the same time I am so excited for all that she is seeing and experiencing right now.
The rest of the family is busy with various activities, school, work commitments and growing up. In this season we’re learning that it’s fun and strange when the kids start getting their own jobs and driving themselves around. It means a lot of letting go and yet a ton of teaching too. It really is a strange dichotomy of emotion and excitement to see all the growing and changing that is happening.
Talking about change, in my last post “Changing Seasons” I mentioned that I was getting ready to embark on a new enterprenual adventure. It was so new at the time that I needed time to flesh it out before sharing more about it. I also needed to step away and give it my best effort, which is what found me stepping away from this blog at the time.
I am happy to report that after 7 months of putting my hand to this new work we are making good and steady progress to the point that my husband, Brian has just recently joined me full time in this new venture.
Together we run and operate Bear Creek Enterprises , where we provide construction services to commercial contractors in and around our local area of Virginia. However, it’s not just about running a company that provides for our family but also provides meaningful and life-giving work for people within our community. A business that allows people to foster and hone their own gifts
For the last 7 months I have also been running Bear Creek Salvage to help recycle the usable items coming out of our commercial demolitions, saving them from the landfill and instead, giving them new life for home and business. This is the part of the business that I have been really leaning into lately and finding real life in. It taps into the creative side of my personality and I am excited to see what develops over the next year with this aspect of the business.
I’m still not certain how often you will see me in and out of this space. I have to be careful to not overload my plate with too many things – no matter how good they are. Much of my energy stays focused on our new business, my family and my marriage. However, as I am able you will see me here. In the meantime, come on over and see what we are doing in the shop.
Happy New Year Friends – Here’s to creating together!
