Take a Social Media Break w logo

WELCOME!  I am so glad you are here.  For the next few weeks I will be sharing (1) simple tip to help inspire you to lead a simpler life.  It won’t be anything hard or something I haven’t tried myself.  Living a simple life is a conscious choice made up of small steps every day.  So here is our small step for today.

Tip #4 – Take a Social Media Break

In this day and age it is really easy to get swallowed up in our technology.  We spend hours working on our computers, we can check our Facebook and Twitter accounts from our phones and we can be available to everyone, all of the time simply through our devices.

It has become such a normal part of our life that I think we forget how exhausting – physically, mentally and emotionally – it is to always be connected.

My challenge for you this week is to take some time to get dis-connected from your social media.  Close Facebook, put twitter to rest and shut the computer.  Take a walk outside, play a board game with the kids, eat a whole meal with your spouse or friend WITHOUT checking your status every 5 minutes. (I dare you…because it’s tougher than you think)

I didn’t say it would be easy.  Taking a break, even a 30 minute break, can be tough.  We are that programmed.  But if we want to simplify life, it takes saying a resounding NO to the popular, to the norm.   It takes saying YES to something different.  Something counter-cultural.

How do you simplify life when it come to social media?
