However, it’s not just about the act of simplifying the stuff in our lives. I also write about simplifying life in order to break free from the overwhelm that comes from a life that is overflowing with stuff and schedules and everything that inundates our lives on a daily basis.
You see, I used to live an overwhelmed life. So much so that I broke under the pressure of it. Out of that season I decided I wasn’t ok to live life like that anymore – because living that way was effecting my family, my relationships, my health and my faith. You can read more about that HERE.
So, I made a conscious decision to live life with less so that I could truly embrace more.

I Know How You Feel:
I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by life. The pace, the stuff, the schedules, the craziness. I know what it’s like to say “Yes” to all the good things when what you really want to say is “No.”
So much of our world runs at breakneck speed. We are a culture that can have so many things at our fingertips instantly. We pack our schedule to the gills, our kids are involved in every sport and we feel like we have to be at every event, we feel like we live in the car and see the inside of a fast food joint more than we do our own kitchen.
If we do get to sit down to a meal, we have to fight for conversation over the i-phones and i-pads, the dinging of social media messages and the need we feel to always be connected.
Instead, we crave margin, rest and space. We hunger for real face to face relationship and meaningful conversation. And yet we feel that it alludes us on a daily basis.
My Goal In Writing This Blog:
To me, Simplified Living is not just about de-cluttering our house, our schedule or our clothes closet.
Simplified Living is not a one-time event.
Simplified Living is a conscious lifestyle choice. It is a daily exercise of learning to deal with the excess that invades our lives.
The truth is….everyone has areas that need simplifying – areas that take up valuable time managing the un-important at the expense of the important. We all have areas where we feel overwhelmed. Where we feel like we are on the perpetual Hamster Wheel. Where instead of living a life of purpose we simply pray to get by.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. If you’ve read a bit of my personal journey you will discover that I made a choice to get off the Hamster wheel, to set the overwhelm aside before it became even more detrimental to my relationships, my health and my faith.
I realized that I was the only one who could step up and take control of my life – not easy for a recovering people pleaser.
And it’s the same for every person walking this earth. We each have to take responsibility for our own lives. If we want to truly be healthy in all areas of our lives than we must learn how many “Yes’s” we can give and the points we need to say “No.”
That is what I write about here – How to simplify your life and break free from the overwhelm that invades our lives every day.
